A Star Wars-themed land, currently and unofficially referred to as Star Wars Land, is an upcoming themed area being developed at Disneyland Park at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California and Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World in Bay Lake, Florida.
The land at each park will each encompass 14 acres and that construction on both versions of the land would begin in April 2016. Construction began at both locations on April 14, 2016. On February 7, 2017, it was announced by CEO Bob Iger during The Walt Disney Company’s quarterly earnings conference call that both Star Wars Lands are scheduled to open in 2019.
The land will immerse the guest into the Star Wars universe. According to Iger, it will be “occupied by many inhabitants; humanoids, aliens and droids … the attractions, the entertainment, everything we create will be part of our storytelling. Nothing will be out of character or stray from the mythology.
Released during this years Star Wars Celebration, Orlando, is an update on how the construction is proceeding.
