Cantonica is a desert planet in the Cantonica system within the Corporate Sector of the galaxy’s Outer Rim Territories that was home to the casino city Canto Bight. The city was located on the shores of the Sea of Cantonica, an artificial ocean considered the largest in the galaxy.

The planet and its casino were heavily inspired by the city of Monaco, the Monte Carlo Casino, and the Monaco Grand Prix Race. Parts of Star Wars: The Last Jedi were filmed in Dubrovnik in March 2016.

Many of the street chase scene appear to be filmed along the STRADUN, East/West through the centre of the town.

The scenes where Slowen Lo informs the Canto Bight police of the illegally parked shuttle appear to have been filmed very near to the Hotel Excelsior, just East of the harbour.
