The planet Scarif would be a beautiful tropical paradise if not for the presence of a major Imperial military installation. Scarif is the principal construction facility for the vast Imperial war machine. The world is enveloped in impenetrable deflector shields and is heavily defended.

Scarif was a secluded and tropical planet used by the Galactic Empire to house the construction of the first Death Star, an armored battle station capable of destroying entire worlds. The Empire built a major military installation on Scarif and excavated large swaths of land in order to build ships and supply the Death Star. An orbiting docking station housed several Imperial Star Destroyers.

According to Mentalfloss.com, Director Gareth Edwards used Gan and Berasdhoo, two very large islands in the Laamu Atoll island cluster in the Maldives—as the filming location for Scarif, a remote tropical planet in the Outer Rim.

Is there a secret underground section of the planet Scarif where the Imperials are overseeing the construction of the Death Star?

Do these pictures, taken at London’s Jubilee line appear in this part of the film??
