Andor TV Show PLACES Breakdown

Hello There!

Andor keyart 2

I hope you enjoyed the first season of Andor? I hear they have already started filming season 2! But we’ll have to wait 2 years to see that.

In the meantime, and hopefully before that season goes out, here is a PLACES BREAKDOWN for season one.

From the South Coast of England to the middle of Scotland, the production really spent time and I’m sure lots of money, to bring this show to the screen.

Check out the link and see where Andor was filmed, right here in the UK.

Hopefully you will be able to stand where Cassian stood and begin the fight against the Empire.

Happy travels.

Be careful, be safe & respect.

1 Month to ANDOR

Hello there!

ANDOR

Over the past year there has been a lot of filming activity, around the UK, for the Star Wars Show Andor, which is due for release 1 month from today on the 31st August on Disney+.

The Show is going to be a prequel to the film Rogue One, and tells the tales of Cassian Andor and his journey to the Rebellion.

SPOILERS AHEAD

Many places in the UK appear to have been used for filming this series, which is actually a little different to the other TV shows – The Mandalorian & Obi-Wan Kenobi, which was mostly filmed in “The Volume” at MBS studios, California.

It would appear that this production is traversing the UK and using a lot more “Real World” locations to convey Galaxy’s far, far away.

I have put together some information of what I have seen, so far and added Google Maps pinpoints to the Places of filming.

Heading from North to South, firstly we are just off the A85 at the Cruachan Dam, Scotland. There appears to be an Imperial outpost that may see some “action” in an episode or two. As I have previously noted, I think the shot used in the trailer has been flipped horizontally?!?!

Next we have Cleveleys on the Fylde Coast of Lancashire approx. 4 miles North of Blackpool. There was some not very secret filming taken place here back in 2021. There were attempts to hide the production but during that time many fan videos showed Diego Luna (Cassian Andor), Shoretroopers and costumed extras in plain sight.

Shoretrooper

In the midlands now for Middle Peak Quarry, Derbyshire. This was once a Lead and now is a Limestone quarry. There seems to be some vegetation brought in here and again large green screen backing to augment CGI.

Just south of the M40 and High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, we have Little Marlow.

This PLACE seemed to be extensively constructed to show a townscape with streets and lanes and was built on two levels. Many of the shots in the Andor trailer use this location as a focal point. I believe this PLACE will play a major role in the upcoming series……we’ll see.

Lastly, for now…. Right on the South Coast of England we have Winspit Quarry, Dorset.

The location was used from April to May 2021, for an, as yet named Place. There are ruinous buildings at this site which again the production crew have dressed to give it a more Star Wars feel.

I’m sure, like you, I cannot wait for more Star Wars Content…

Thanks to Star Wars News Net & FanthaTracks for a lot of the info and also the Daily Mail and Dorset Echo.

The Book of Boba Fett & Obi-Wan Kenobi & more

Hello there!

scale

It’s been a while, a lot has happened in the Star Wars Universe since the last time I posted! (although the Facebook page has been more active).

Today, I have added a few more pictures to the Rogue One, Jedha section of Locations with more guidance on the Jedha City shots. With more info on these too, head to GFFA Journeys | Facebook where Star Wars Places Member – Sander De Lange is actually scouting in person (June 2022). Check out this recently created Facebook page for great comparison images and information on how to find PLACES.

The Book of Boba Fett has come and gone. Overall a good addition to the Lore of SW, in my opinion not 100% satisfied (whoever is). The first two Episodes were a great start but lost its way with adding the Mandalorian in my opinion.  6/10

Much the same for Obi-Wan – Mostly great first episode (Leia chase not withstanding). There were some things that seemed out of place, some strange writing and directing choices that did not quite make sense to me. The over use of REVA and the Inquisitors, trying to integrate the Clone Wars and Rebels Cartoons was too much… Obi-Wan spending most of the time looking after Leia??  He should have been saving the Jedi Texts……but I’m no writer…..

The Final Episode turns things round for me. Enough reference to the films and call backs to situations……inclusion of two characters we know from before and we are given the now famous line of “HELLO THERE” in just the right place….  7/10.

Now to wait for ANDOR (which I hear, from a few sources, is going to be very good). I have some BTS images for this, but I am waiting to publish for now……
